A beautiful, comfortable one-bed holiday cottage, this retreat is ideal for a couple seeking a break from the hustle and bustle. It’s set in the owners’ extensive garden complete with a picturesque pond, ducks and their friendly dog! Take their rowing boat out on the pond, which is also available for fishing, by agreement. Footpaths abound nearby if you’re keen on walking in this beautiful High Weald Area of Natural Beauty. The charming village of Goudhurst is less than 1 mile away with plenty of historic buildings, some shopping as well as pubs and eateries. Or get out and about visiting various National Trust properties in the area – go back in time to the 14th century with moated castles at Scotney and Bodiam Castles (4.5 miles and 11 miles respectively). Admire the famous gardens at Sissinghurst (6.5 miles) or the Jacobean architecture at Bateman’s, once home to Rudyard Kipling (12 miles). Alternatively, walk the miles of trails on offer among the ancient pines at Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest which is just 3 miles from this holiday home.
The accommodation in this converted barn is upside down, with the comfortable double bedroom and en-suite bathroom, complete with a Victorian claw-foot bath downstairs. A feature galvanised spiral staircase takes you up to the living quarters which are open-plan. This is one stunning, bright and airy room with vaulted ceilings with beams, and added Velux windows to let even more light in. Comfortable seating is at one end, joining up with the modern kitchen/diner with an oval table seating four and a modern fitted kitchen for those self-catering holiday endeavours. It’s a really relaxing place to spend time between days out.
French doors lead out from the dining area upstairs onto a spacious decked balcony with a table and chairs plus sun loungers. This overlooks the pond and garden with far-reaching views. There’s a gravelled patio area with more furniture near the pond.
