A charming two-storey property, situated in Clappersgate and benefitting from an elevated position, this is an ideal location in the Lake District for a tranquil holiday for a couple or small family. The bustling market town of Ambleside with its shops, restaurants, and access to boat cruises on Lake Windermere, is a mile away. Walkers can climb Loughrigg Fell from Ambleside to enjoy its magnificent panoramic views over the lakes. Rydal Water and Coniston are 3 and 7 miles away respectively and well worth a visit. Alternatively, the National Trust Wray Castle is 2.5 miles away, and the former home of children’s author Beatrix Potter is 6 miles away.

This is a cosy, historic cottage offering welcoming spaces that combine original features with everyday comforts. The entrance is down some steps into a small porch, off the porch is an old fashioned 'extra toilet'. As you enter the lounge/dining area, your eye is drawn to the fireplace and wood burner, as well as the comfortable chairs and dining table that sit to one side. This is a lovely social space. The floors throughout the downstairs of the property are laid with traditional flagstone and benefit from underfloor heating. The lounge leads into a large kitchen with a sunny aspect and views of Lake Windermere. The cottage-style stairs to the first floor are a little steep and lead to a king-size and a double bedroom, with views towards Wansfell and the lake. A bathroom and WC complete the offering of this pretty cottage in the countryside.

Outside, the patio with furniture is set in an elevated position and offers gorgeous views of Lake Windermere.

Wonderful cottage, clean, great location but unfortunately this time and older and v uncomfortable soft soggy mattress which led to poor sleep and a less restful, relaxing holiday.

Location is everything and this holiday home certainly ticks all the boxes in that area. That said the house itself has a tired look to it. The photos are probably a little older and look nicer than the real thing. It was comfortable enough for us and we had a good stay, but the property is too expensive for what you get.

Great location, easily walkable to Ambleside. Road can be noisy at times but not bad. Good value for money, ticks all the boxes for a solid place to base yourself with your family &/or dog to then go & explore the great outdoors.

Lovely location and great views and walks from the door step. Cottage was OK as a base only to sleep, not comfortable or clean enough for self catering for a week, we eat out everyday due to lack of equipment and lack of cleanliness

Great location. Cottage has everything you need and is kept very well. The underfloor heating downstairs is very efficient and keeps everywhere nice and warm. Cottage is well situated to go to some beautiful places around the lakes.

Good location within walking distance of ambleside and countryside walks. Unfortunately we found the bed to be uncomfortable and did not sleep well during the stay. We also found the seating in the living space to be uncomfortable. Property is a little dated and some areas could be cleaner. No fire wood/kindling starter pack provided (other propeRead morerties we've stayed in have provided this). Hide

This was a fantastic find. A very cosy cottage with all amenities provided.
