Just outside the tiny Cornish hamlet of Barcelona, you’ll find this small complex of pretty properties, surrounded by narrow lanes and countryside. Around 11 miles north-west, Lostwithiel is known as the ‘antiques capital’ of the county thanks to its variety of shops, markets and fairs; for a further glimpse of the past visit nearby Restormel Castle, which sits on a spur overlooking the River Fowey. Just 3 miles from your doorstep, the seaside town of Looe is home to beautiful beaches, winding lanes and the world’s first banjo-shaped harbour wall. Hop on the ferry to cross from quiet West Looe to East Looe for cafes, pubs and restaurants to suit every taste; book a boat trip to St George’s Island a mile offshore and you might see the local seals; for more animal adventures head to the Wild Futures Monkey Sanctuary just outside town. Walkers will find plenty to enjoy along the South West Coast Path; the fishing harbour of Polperro – notorious for its 18th and 19th-century smugglers – is a perfect place to stop for refreshments.
Step into the light, bright, lounge/kitchen/diner and you’ll delight in its view of the pool. Turn your attention inwards, however, and you’ll find plenty more to please, including a sofa that’s large enough to stretch out on, and a well-appointed kitchen area with all the essentials for a hassle-free holiday, including a washing machine. A TV and DVD player will provide home-from-home-style entertainment for evenings indoors, and at bedtime, there are two peaceful rooms sure to induce a good night’s sleep, each conveniently close to the modern shower room which has a heated towel rail.
This single-storey holiday cottage is part of a small complex of 12 properties, set within shared gardens and well-maintained grounds. Located opposite the heated swimming pool, there’s a wooded area at the rear plus a furnished patio to one side: perfect for drying-off and drinks after your dip!
