A delightful, three-storey cottage, with a wealth of period character, this inviting retreat nestles in a small yard off one of Whitby’s cobbled streets. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom property makes a perfect base for a family or two couples eager to holiday on the Yorkshire coast, with shops and eateries on the doorstep. Wander straight out to stroll through the historic town and climb the famous 199 steps up to the ruins of Whitby Abbey on the headland. Pack your swimming costumes and towels and head less than 100 metres down to sandy Tate Hill Beach. Whitby’s main beach, with its pier and many seaside attractions, such as donkey rides, cafes and ice cream parlours, is 0.5 miles away.
Open the door to the cottage to find the heart of the holiday home is its open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Return to this space, with its exposed brickwork and beams, to spend time together playing games, watching films and planning your next adventure. Prepare meals here too with the tasty Yorkshire produce you have bought in town then gather round the table to enjoy them. Follow steep, cottage-style stairs up the first floor, where a comfortable double bedroom and the family bathroom are located. A twin bedroom, with a beamed and vaulted ceiling, can be found up a second flight of stairs, with a stairgate, on the floor above.
Enjoy meals or have a cup of tea or glass of wine out in the pretty, courtyard garden. This is opposite the cottage.
