Property code: OC-TN610

Two linked barns, this Kent countryside property seamlessly marries high-spec and modern with rustic and cosy. Linked via lockable door on the ground floor, you can have one big space or two more private ones. There’s lots of room and comfortable seating, but the exposed wood frame gives it a really homely feel, and everywhere you look there are views of the countryside beyond. The unusual location of a working vineyard makes for some interesting exploring, while there are two hot tubs to enjoy. If you want to visit the coast, head 15 miles to the alien Dungeness landscape, or 10 miles to Camber’s golden sands via the historic cinque port of Rye – both worthy of a stop-off. The National Trust’s Sissinghurst Castle Garden is 15 miles northwest, while the quaint village of Tenterden is just 7 miles. Or lace up your boots and get outdoors – there are walks aplenty through the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty around the property.

Churchlands Barn is the bigger of the two linked properties, sleeping eight in four bedrooms. The Old Cowshed sleeps four in two bedrooms. The main barn’s open-plan living area is wonderfully airy, spacious and attractive, with exposed wooden beams, posts and frame a constant reminder of the building’s heritage. The modern wood floor echoes this with a touch of modern style and elegance. The smaller barn also offers smaller open-plan living areas if people fancy watching, doing or eating different things! Comfortable seating, wood burners and lots of windows make both barns welcoming spaces. And, with two well-equipped modern kitchens, you can cook a feast fit for a king here. Dine indoors or alfresco on the terrace. The bedrooms all provide a relaxing space to enjoy a good night’s sleep, under romantic beamed ceilings – perfect for getting away from it all. Decor is neutral but the style is modern and classic. There are six bedrooms of various configurations and almost as many bathrooms at five.

While this can function as one, each property here also has its own enclosed garden with outdoor furniture, charcoal BBQ and private hot tub if the guests fancy a bit of peace and quiet. Whether you want to dine alfresco en masse, just sit and enjoy a quiet coffee or merely admire the view while snatching some rays, you can do it all.

Spent a week at this stunning location celebrating a big birthday with friends. The barn was perfect, plenty of space to get together, well equipped, comfortable and perfectly positioned with views over the vines and countryside but close enough to Rye, Tenterden and other beautiful places to explore.

Read the previous reviews and times it by 10. My partner, who turned 60, and our families had the most wonderful weekend. The gorgeous weather was a huge bonus. We were a group of 13, and everyone was catered for. The house is located in a most beautiful vineyard deep in the Kent countryside. The views are amazing

We had the perfect stay at the Churchlands Barn and the adjoining Old Cowshed annex. The location was fantastic, the property and views were better than pictured on the website. All necessary amenities were provided to make it an easy stay. We would recommend this property as a fantastic holiday home.

A great location for exploring Kent, the main house has 3 double bedrooms for adults & the 4th bedroom is attached to the main room & would suit children only. We visited Chapel Down for wine tasting - well worth a visit & near Tenderten. Had lunch on the beach at Hythe at the Shack & Oysters at Whitstable. Rye has great deli shops & cafes. A really comfortable and beautiful property. We were a group of 10 and really enjoyed staying here. The hot tub with a view over the vineyard and beyond was a particular high point.
