Two linked barns, this Kent countryside property seamlessly marries high-spec and modern with rustic and cosy. Linked via lockable door on the ground floor, you can have one big space or two more private ones. There’s lots of room and comfortable seating, but the exposed wood frame gives it a really homely feel, and everywhere you look there are views of the countryside beyond. The unusual location of a working vineyard makes for some interesting exploring, while there are two hot tubs to enjoy. If you want to visit the coast, head 15 miles to the alien Dungeness landscape, or 10 miles to Camber’s golden sands via the historic cinque port of Rye – both worthy of a stop-off. The National Trust’s Sissinghurst Castle Garden is 15 miles northwest, while the quaint village of Tenterden is just 7 miles. Or lace up your boots and get outdoors – there are walks aplenty through the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty around the property.
Churchlands Barn is the bigger of the two linked properties, sleeping eight in four bedrooms. The Old Cowshed sleeps four in two bedrooms. The main barn’s open-plan living area is wonderfully airy, spacious and attractive, with exposed wooden beams, posts and frame a constant reminder of the building’s heritage. The modern wood floor echoes this with a touch of modern style and elegance. The smaller barn also offers smaller open-plan living areas if people fancy watching, doing or eating different things! Comfortable seating, wood burners and lots of windows make both barns welcoming spaces. And, with two well-equipped modern kitchens, you can cook a feast fit for a king here. Dine indoors or alfresco on the terrace. The bedrooms all provide a relaxing space to enjoy a good night’s sleep, under romantic beamed ceilings – perfect for getting away from it all. Decor is neutral but the style is modern and classic. There are six bedrooms of various configurations and almost as many bathrooms at five.
While this can function as one, each property here also has its own enclosed garden with outdoor furniture, charcoal BBQ and private hot tub if the guests fancy a bit of peace and quiet. Whether you want to dine alfresco en masse, just sit and enjoy a quiet coffee or merely admire the view while snatching some rays, you can do it all.
