This chic, unusually spacious cottage is located just off the high street in Southwold and provides a warm welcome for couples or solo travellers holidaying in this idyllic seaside town. All the attractions including the working lighthouse, beach huts, award-winning pier, busy harbour, cliff top cannon and, of course, the long sandy beach combine to make Southwold a quintessentially English resort town. The beach runs for over a mile alongside rows of the famous Southwold beach huts to the pier which houses gift shops, a boardwalk cafe and the bizarre ‘Under the Pier Show’. The town is steeped in maritime history, and its museum and Sailor's Reading Room provides a fascinating insight into the town's past. the high street is the perfect location for some retail therapy alongside cafes and restaurants that serve quality food washed down with local ale. Take in the sights of the harbour and walk along the banks of the River Blyth, where you will find the bridge or foot ferry that will take you across the estuary to Walberswick. Surrounded by heath and marshland, Walberswick is home to a village green, tea rooms, pubs, craft, art and gifts shops. Wander at your leisure, watching local fisherman land their catch or have a go at crabbing yourself, a favourite pastime for visitors and locals alike. Further afield, visit the picturesque village of Thorpeness (16 miles) with its mock-Tudor-style houses and wonderful man-made lake known as the Meare. Take a rowing boat out on the lake and explore the Peter Pan-themed islands and enjoy the sound of tranquil waters lapping against the hull.

In a quiet town centre location, this charming home adjoins a larger property which together were once one house. French patio doors open into the wood-panelled kitchen/diner, complete with everything you’d need for a dinner for two and even space for a couple of guests. The hallway leads to a spacious living room with sofa seating, exposed wooden beams overhead and a decorative feature fireplace. There is also a cloakroom on the ground floor. A large light-filled bedroom with a king-sized bed can be found on the first floor, alongside a stylish panelled bathroom.

The courtyard garden, shared with the adjoining property, is where you will find an outdoor table and chairs, perfect for a morning coffee in the fresh Southwold air.

Rest Cottage is a lovely, comfortable, welconing house. Great furnishings & layout. Very spacious for a one bedroom which is a fair size. Ideally located for beach, high st. & pubs & restaurants. Absolutely loved this cottage & would visit again. The garage was a real bonus.

The cottage was ideally situated to explore the town, really close to all amenities and the beach. A good base for visiting the surrounding villages and towns, and the restaurants, fish and chip shops and pubs were within a few minutes walk. Also very dog friendly, our dog was welcomed almost everywhere.

Cottage Ok but garage very very hard to put a large car in because of the narrowness of the road. Couldnt really use it during our stay as was worsened by construction work on the property opposite. A kind of shabby chic holiday let, that is conveniently located in the centre of town and close to the beach and promenade. In need of some decorative up-dating, but it is spacious and well furnished and gave us a good base for a very enjoyable holiday.

Cute cottage and very spacious. I chose this property based on having a garage, as parking is an nightmare at peak times. This is a fabulous one-bedroom property - particularly if you value a bit of space. The location cannot be bettered. Some previous reviewers have said that it could do with a little bit of updating but that's largely a minor paint job here and there. Should we come back to Southwold, we would definitely come back to this property. Thank you!

An excellent location, central to the town and sea front. The property is in need of a face-lift with a review of furnishings and equipment.

Cottage is very well located and the garage parking is a real bonus. The property is showing signs of wear & tear and is a little dated.

The best thing about this cottage is its central location. It is spacious and comfortable on the inside but tired looking on the exterior. Having a garage to park in was useful but note that it is in a narrow lane and the garage itself is narrow so accessing it in a large car would be tricky.

The property is ideally located, close to beach and shops. It was very clean and nicely decorated. The garage was very useful, although the door is a bit difficult and really needs some attention. We did need to call out the maintenance team for a flood in the hallway due to a blocked drain, but they came out promptly with towels to dry it up.
