This charming property is set opposite the Grade II-listed St Peter and St Paul’s Church in the centre of Aldeburgh, with the high street and the beach less than half a mile away. The town and the surrounding area have inspired many authors and poets, the most famous being the composer Benjamin Britten, who founded the Aldeburgh Music Festival which is held every year in Snape Maltings (7 miles away). Fishermen still pull their colourful boats up on the shingle beach and sell their haul from picturesque huts, and a large variety of yachts can be seen at summer weekends on the nearby Alde estuary. Head to the high street to browse antique shops, boutiques and independent book shops, learn more about the history of the town at Aldeburgh Museum or stroll to the beach to see the incredible ‘Scallop’ sculpture.
The cottage itself has a welcoming feel, with wooden floors downstairs and neutral decor throughout. Comfortable leather sofas are set around a wood burner-effect gas fire in the lounge, and the dining room has a wooden table and chairs for six guests. The kitchen has all you need should you wish to cook for yourselves, and the sunny conservatory is a great place to escape with a book next to the handy reading lamp. There is also a convenient cloakroom on the ground-floor level. Find the three bedrooms upstairs – two doubles (one with an en-suite shower room) and a single. The bathroom features a shower over the bath.
The private garden is a great place to relax in on a summer’s evening and you’ll find garden furniture in the storage area.
