Just outside picturesque Georgeham, the hamlet of Darracott is surrounded by beautiful North Devon countryside. A couple of miles away is the horseshoe-shaped beach at Croyde Bay, a favourite among the surfing crowd. To the south of here, Saunton Sands is better suited to beginner surfers and is backed by the impressive Braunton Burrows. This is one of the largest sand dune systems in the British Isles and is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve with a rich diversity of plant and animal life. For time away from the beach visit Barnstaple, the largest town in North Devon with a historic pannier market and a host of independent stores. Or head further south to Great Torrington, 20 miles away, where RHS Garden Rosemoor nestles within the Torridge Valley and has something to see all year round.
Quality furniture, fittings and design make this stone-faced cottage an idyllic bolthole for a couple to make the most of their time together. A bright and airy kitchen with a dining suite and a stable door onto the garden leads up into an attractive living room with a wood burner and welcoming seating. Both rooms feature cream-coloured flagstone flooring and in the living room, the sofa can convert to a bed if needed. Follow the solid oak stairs to the first floor where you’ll find a double bedroom with gorgeous views and a bespoke wardrobe, plus a stylish en-suite shower room.
Stone walls and fencing enclose the generous garden here, where there’s a lawn and patio with furniture for al fresco food and drinks. A door opens onto the patio from the kitchen so you won’t have far to go with a tray in hand!
