Stock Ghyll Force waterfall, just outside pretty and historic Ambleside (4 miles) is well worth a visit too, as are the town’s shops, cafes and restaurants. Waterhead, at the northern tip of Windermere, is just a little further (4.5 miles) and offers water sports, lake cruises and wonderful waterside vistas of the largest lake in the region.
