One of North Devon’s most-renowned seaside locations, Croyde has great family-friendly facilities and a vibrant atmosphere that makes it a favourite for the surfing crowd. Wherever you are in the village, you’ll see surf schools and gear hire shops. The beach is flanked by the beautiful sands at Saunton and Woolacombe (both 6 miles) so there’s plenty of coastline for everyone to enjoy, even on the busiest of summer days. But holidays here are not just about the beach; Croyde has chocolate-box cottages, welcoming pubs and nature trails all waiting to be discovered – the South West Coast Path will take you to the National Trust’s Baggy Point (1 mile), or you could explore Braunton Burrows (6 miles), one of the largest sand dune systems in the British Isles. For a taste of town life, Barnstaple is just over 10 miles by car and has a historic Pannier Market while Ilfracombe, a 9-mile drive, is fast gaining a reputation as the region’s culinary and cultural centre.
Unless you built a sandcastle big enough to live in, you couldn’t get accommodation any closer to the beach – and this property has been designed with an upside-down layout to take full advantage of its position on the very edge of Croyde Bay. Three well-presented bedrooms on the ground floor offer flexibility for a family or group of friends. The first has a king-size bed, TV and DVD player and an en-suite shower room, plus doors opening onto a terrace with decking, patio and stunning sea views. The second bedroom has twin beds plus a TV and DVD player and the third has a single bed; there’s a bathroom on this floor to complete the convenience. The cool, contemporary feel continues upstairs, where the open-plan living area has oak floors, leather sofas and – if you can tear yourself away from the breathtaking views – a huge TV with surround sound. Patio doors open onto a balcony and there’s an outside staircase leading down to the terrace, while at the other end, the fully-equipped kitchen/diner has a vaulted ceiling, sleek glossy cabinets and a slate floor, plus plenty of elbow space for all to dine comfortably.
With a first-floor balcony and ground-floor terrace that sits right above the beach, there’s absolutely nothing to spoil the view during your stay here. Outdoor furniture and a BBQ will ensure you enjoy your time outside with the sunshine and sea breeze. There’s secure external storage for your surfboards and a shared outdoor shower where you can wash the sand off your feet when you come off the beach.
