Set off for walks into the dales from this cottage or explore nearby villages and towns; return to spend time together in the cosy lounge or on the patio. This is the perfect retreat for a group of friends or family. You’re assured of peace and quiet and far-reaching views from this former barn, set in the hills above Swaledale, the most northerly of the dales and famed for its breed of sheep and locally made cheeses. The nearest town, Richmond (17 miles), boasts an impressive castle, a vast cobbled marketplace and an elegant Georgian district. There are plenty of quirky shops, art galleries and a good choice of eating options as well as a traditional outdoor market every Saturday.

After a day out exploring, the cosy lounge with a wood burner is a welcome retreat. Next to it, the sleek kitchen has a dining table for six as well as all the mod-cons. A twin bedroom is on the ground floor, as well as a wetroom, with the other two bedrooms on the first floor – a king-size and another twin, plus a family bathroom.

The patio area has terrific views onto the verdant moors dotted with sheep – enjoy your morning coffee in the sunshine or dine alfresco in the summer.

Wonderful cottage in beautiful location. We had a fantastic family holiday, both relaxing at the cottage and enjoying the views, and visiting some of the many great attractions nearby.

Really lovely cottage in a great and remote location with stunning views, perfect as we were looking for peace and quiet and a relaxing break, the cottage had everything we needed for our weeks stay, and we will certainly consider booking again in the future.

A very nicely done barn conversion in a fabulous location. The delightful courtyard area allowed us to really appreciate the upland environment, fascinatingly shaped hills and valleys with a proliferation of lambs, curlews and lapwings. A very pleasant and relaxing stay.

We have been holidaying in North Yorkshire for over 20 years and this is by far our favourite holiday cottage of all; its a large detached cottage with a lovely private garden surrounded by spectacular views of the dales.

This is a terrific cottage in a wonderful location - remote, quiet, surrounded by wildlife (plus sheep and cows). The only thing to be aware of is that the broadband struggles to manage the smart TV at the same time as a Zoom call, so there was a bit of buffering if we did too much at once. Overall the property is a high standard and the location is second to none. The cleaning standard was good in the visible areas, but we had to tidy-up some used tisses and dust behind the beds and chest of drawers (places not often picked-up). The driveway to the house has some large potholes so the advice for use of a 4x4 was good, but these will Read moreneed attention sooner or later as the heavy rain eroded them even further while we were there. Couldn`t find the outside bin! These are minor points - the cottage and location are both excellent. Hide
