Set on the outskirts of a picturesque North Yorkshire village, this stunningly converted property offers fresh and light-filled accommodation for friends and families seeking an idyllic country retreat. Ruswarp is a friendly village with a pub, cafe, miniature railway, children’s soft play centre and farm park. You can go rowing on the River Esk, or take long rural walks including the Monks Trod route which leads to the thriving resort of Whitby (2 miles). Whitby is known for its lovely sandy beach, twisting medieval streets and yards, with a bustling harbour, the Whalebone Arch and the ruins of the old Gothic abbey overlooking the town. Also, just along the coast is the tranquil village of Robin Hood’s Bay (7.5 miles).
One of three properties on site, this fantastic retreat shares an entrance lobby with the neighbouring cottage before you head through to the airy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. With a large dining area at its heart, this is a fantastic space for everyone to get together and unwind. The dining table sits by the impressive floor-to-ceiling windows and provides a wonderful spot for sharing a celebratory meal. Towards the rear of the room, the elegant kitchen has plenty of workspace and equipment so you can rustle up a family feast. When it’s time to relax, you can head over to the lounge area by the side where there’s plenty of seating, perfect for chatting into the night or watching a movie. The ground floor also features an accessible wet room with a walk-in shower, along with the first of the property’s three tastefully decorated bedrooms: a sweet twin room with a dressing table. An open-tread staircase leads up from the main living area to the first floor and the second bedroom, a cosy twin room. From here a metal walkway leads past the high windows and back over the living area to the final bedroom, a charming room with a king-size bed, dressing table, separate seating area and a handy en-suite bathroom. Please note, that both of the first-floor bedrooms have low, sloping ceilings.
Sliding doors open from the dining area onto the patio, which can also be reached from a ramp to the side of the house. Featuring plenty of outdoor furniture, the patio makes an ideal space for dining alfresco. Beyond the patio, the garden has a lovely lawn with plenty of space for children to play. Fishing and clay pigeon shooting can be arranged – please enquire for details.
