Book this three-bedroom detached cottage located on a quiet country lane that leads directly onto Exmoor Common. The twin villages of Lynton and Lynmouth are just 2 miles away, offering a variety of facilities including shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs as well as tennis courts, a bowling green and a village cinema. Accessed by the famous water-powered funicular railway, the picturesque harbour at Lynmouth with its adjacent Manor Green and riverbanks is well worth exploring. In under 13 miles, you can reach attractions including Exmoor Zoological and Conservation Centre, Coombe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park and the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway Company, by car.

Entering from the porch, the front door opens onto an entrance hall with doors to the downstairs living spaces. A dining room seats six and has a door to the garden; the lounge has two large sofas and a wood burner; while the kitchen with its range cooker and breakfast bar is a homely place to prepare family feasts together. Also on this level is a shower room, a WC and a utility room for laundry and storage — ideal if you’re travelling with bikes or water sports equipment. Open tread stairs provide access to the first-floor landing, where a snug with a TV and sofa bed provides a quiet breakout space for adults or a den room for kids. A king-size bedroom benefits from an en-suite shower room with WC. This bedroom, along with a further king-size bedroom and a twin, enjoys the far-reaching country and sea views. An additional bathroom is located on the first floor.

The pretty, tiered garden is enclosed by hedges and fence and furnished with a bistro set, as well as a wrought-iron dining table seating four. A stone staircase runs through its centre, providing access to each level, while a row of mature trees shelters and makes the area more private.

  • 3 bedrooms – 2 king-size, 1 twin (plus 1 sofa bed in the snug for alternative sleeping)
  • 3 bathrooms – 1 bathroom with shower over bath and WC, 1 shower room with WC, 1 en-suite shower room with WC, 1 separate WC

This is a beautifully laid out cottage, with generous rooms and well furnished. Well equipped, comfy beds, rural setting with sheep and birds for neighbours. Idyllic setting we would certainly recommend.

A comfortable cosy cottage, the kitchen was well equipped and all beds were comfortable. However, be aware it is a steep single track lane with limited pull in places to the cottage.

This really is a lovely cosy cottage which is really well equiped. 6 (adults) stayed to walk the first 5 days of the south west coastal walk from Minehead down to Saunton. It was a perfect base with good taxi service from Lynmouth to Combe Martin. the No 10 bus which linked Porlock Weir to Minehead and easy access to get food shopping in LyntonRead more and some really good eating pubs. We had 3 big cars so the parking was a bit tight but manageable! We didn't bring dogs because of the walking conditions, but it would have been really good with a wonderful large utility room for muddy feet/boots. If we came back to the area, we would definitely book again. Hide

If you want a cottage in a quiet, scenic, rural location yet within easy reach of the sea and other attractions, then Keepers Cottage could be the place for you. This cottage is in a fabulous location if you are looking for peace and quiet. There are views of the sea between the hills from the front and walks on the moor just a few hundred yards behind. It is very comfortable, roomy and nicely furnished and has a pretty garden. We had a job to fault it, highly recommend it and hope to return.

The position of Keepers Cottage was for us its main recommendation, close to both the sea and moor. In fact Exmoor starts right behind the house which is lovely. We also visited the local cinema which was charming. Accommodation is spacious and comfortable, the kitchen has all the equipment needed to self cater. We absolutely loved Keepers Cottage! I don't think we've stayed in such a well-equipped holiday kitchen before! The views from most of the windows are amazing, the location is totally private and peaceful and the cottage is very airy, comfortable and welcoming. The cottage was spotless on arrival, instructions are clear and the garden is delightfulRead more! Exmoor common is just a short walk further up the hill. You need a car to go anywhere else as the cottage is wonderfully remote! Wifi at the cottage is excellent. There is a petrol garage at the bottom of the lane which surprisingly stocks just about anything you may need! Lynton and Lynmouth are on your doorstep for cafes, restaurants and gift shops. The Valley of the Rocks was breath-taking as was the Heddons Mouth walk. We recommend both. We ate at home most evenings as the range cooker is great and very clean! We can't recommend Keepers Cottage enough! Hide
