For a fun-filled day out, visit the harbour town of Barmouth (6 miles) where you can spot seals and dolphins on boat trips and treat yourselves at cafes, restaurants and ice cream parlours.

Home cook in the kitchen, dine at the five-seater table beside garden-access patio doors offering wonderful countryside views, then kick back and relax in the living room where sofas and armchairs sit beside a flame effect electric fire in a stone, beamed feature fireplace that adds traditional charm. Turn on the TV for entertainment. One of the sofas can be converted into a bed for alternative sleeping arrangements and, handily, the ground floor also boasts a WC. Climb the steep spiral staircase to the three homely bedrooms - a double, a single and one with bunk beds - which all boast lovely views across the surrounding fields. There is also a bathroom with a shower over a bath on this first floor, ideal for soaking after outdoor pursuits.
