This light and airy property sleeping six guests has a holiday atmosphere that invites families or a group of friends to relax with a drink after a day spent swimming or riding the Atlantic waves. The magnificent beach in Croyde Bay (0.5 miles) is a magnet for surfers worldwide, but the huge expanse of golden sand is family-friendly too, with safe paddling in the shallows and inviting rock pools for children to explore. Keen walkers are spoiled for choice. Start with a hike along this glorious stretch of coastline to Baggy Point and drink in spectacular views before enjoying a stroll round the pretty village of Croyde, less than half a mile from your holiday home. Admire the colour-washed thatched cottages and consider sampling a delicious Devon cream tea in one of the cafes. Visitors to this lively village will also find a good range of restaurants, pubs and shops, including surf stores where you can hire wetsuits, surfboards canoes and other water sports essentials. For something completely different, head for Chambercombe Manor (11 miles), a remarkable Norman house, first recorded in the Domesday Book. The manor has beautiful gardens and a tearoom and is said to have a ghostly history.

From the hall, walk into an open-plan living/dining and kitchen area, flooded with light from several windows and patio doors opening on to the garden. This stylishly furnished area has a spacious kitchen, ample comfortable seating, and a cosy wood burner for cooler nights. A double bedroom with an en-suite shower room and WC is ideal for a guest who prefers to sleep at ground-floor level. The en-suite has Jack and Jill doors, giving access from both the bedroom and the living area. There is also a useful understairs storage room. Upstairs are two further spacious bedrooms: a twin and a double, both with Smart TVs, and a bathroom with a shower cubicle and WC. From the double bedroom, patio doors open on to a secluded, decked balcony with glorious views across to the beach and surrounding countryside. A patio table with chairs for two sits immediately outside the doors and a raised section has more chairs where other guests can enjoy the splendid vista.

Outside, a well-planned open space is thoughtfully landscaped, with a large, decked area comprising a section for BBQs, sun loungers and elegant garden furniture, perfect for leisurely outdoor drinks and meals. A separate area with artificial grass houses a beach hut packed with a great selection of outdoor games for children and an outdoor surfboard rack. There is also a detached and private outside shower room and drying room.

This property has everything for a 3 year old up to a 79 year old. We loved it. Croyde beach has an amazing atmosphere. We loved the camaraderie between the surfers and the Lifeguards.

Really nice house in a great location halfway between the beach and village. Warm and cosy with everything we needed. Particularly impressed by the the many useful things left in the house in case youd forgotten anything. The outdoor space wouldve been nice to use had we been there in the summer. This was the third year that we had tried to getRead more down to Croyde for the New Year (covid thwarted our plans for the first 2 years). Marsdens were excellent to deal with when we had to cancel the past 2 years and also this time round. Hide
