Situated in a quiet rural setting on the outskirts of North Devon market town, Barnstaple (2.5 miles), this charming property offers families the perfect place from which to explore North Devon. Barnstaple has a variety of shops and eateries and is a good place to join the Tarka Trail, a cycleway that follows the estuary to the fantastic café at Fremington Quay or the beach/eateries in Instow (within 8 miles). You’re within 10 miles of a popular beach and village, Croyde, which offers cafes, pubs, pop-up restaurants, clean surf, a sandy beach and cliff-top walks. Exmoor National Park is worth a visit with its rugged landscape, an abundance of tea rooms and the iconic cliff railway in Lynton and Lynmouth (20 miles).
This single-storey cottage was once the carriage house for the impressive Regency residence which dates back to 1752 and stands proudly within the 69 acres of pasture and woodland. Now sympathetically decorated, it offers guests a comfortable stay with access to shared facilities. The compact open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is great for spending time together, whether you’re sinking into a sofa in front of the TV, tucking into a meal at the table or preparing snacks and drinks in the kitchen. When it’s time for bed, there are two delightful, good-sized bedrooms (one double and a twin), whilst a bathroom completes the accommodation.
Outside, there is plenty of space to stretch your legs, and the views across the estuary are beautiful. As part of a complex of holiday cottages, guests have access to lots of shared facilities, including a heated indoor swimming pool, a games room with a full-sized snooker table, a trampoline and other equipment for ball sports. There is also a BBQ so that you can enjoy al fresco dining on warm, summer evenings.
