Immersive yourself deep in Poldark-country with a stay in this miner’s cottage, set in a historic village. Here you can learn about the area’s rich heritage at the King Edward Mine Museum, just over half a mile from the property. Walk or cycle just under 2 miles to Great Flat Lode, one of the county's Mineral Tramway Trails, encompassing the hilltop site of Carn Brae, from which you can enjoy panoramic views across both the North and South Cornwall coasts. Or, venture 6 miles further north east to the picture-postcard beaches of Portreath, Trehidy Country Park and the dramatic cliffs of Basset’s Cove. The town of Camborne is a mile and a half north, providing railway connections across Cornwall.
An entrance porch opens onto a rectangular living space, half of which is furnished with two large leather sofas, a slate hearth and a wood burner; the other with a solid oak dining table and six oak chairs with leather pads. The adjacent kitchen offers an alternative place for two to eat, with a central island/breakfast bar and two leather bar stools. And a large American-style fridge/freezer and oven with a five-ring hob provide excellent amenities for family catering. A shower room with a WC completes the ground floor. Accessed from the dining area, the first floor accommodates a king-size bedroom with a wall-mounted TV, a twin room and a bathroom with a large corner electric shower and a WC.
An outdoor tap and utility room next to the parking area prove very handy when returning from a muddy bike ride, or an afternoon of riding the waves. The utility is also helpful for storing equipment and doing laundry. An enclosed area of lawn at the front is surrounded by a stone wall, providing a nice spot to sit out in, around the table. Or, a couple of guests can take some time out to read a book at the rear, on seats beside the back door.
