This characterful cottage is perfect for a small group of friends or family to enjoy a relaxing coastal break together. Set right in the centre of the historic seaside town of Aldeburgh, both the town and the beach are on your doorstep. There is a strong sense of community in the town and it has a long and fascinating history dating back to Tudor times. Visit the local museum to find out more about its interesting shipbuilding and nautical history. It is also very much a cultural hub hosting the annual Aldeburgh Festival founded by Benjamin Britton. As you wander its streets you’ll pass pretty pastel-painted fishermen’s cottages and discover an array of interesting shops and galleries. There are plenty of great places to eat and drink too, with quite a lively bar and restaurant scene for somewhere so small. In the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Aldeburgh is an ideal location for bird watchers and walkers. The estuary, marshes and shingle banks are home to a wide variety of wildlife and there are sailing and yacht clubs at nearby Slaughden 1 mile away.

This property has a wealth of character and charm. It has a generously proportioned living room with comfy, seating, a large sash window and a coal effect gas fireplace. The compact kitchen is a light and bright space, while the separate dining room has flagstone flooring, exposed beams and a large wooden table. This room has a distinctly old-world feel with its flagstone floor, exposed beams and an ornamental brick fireplace. Upstairs guests will find two comfortable bedrooms. These are a fresh and inviting double bedroom and a large twin room with an attractive sash window and convenient extra basin. The quaint and stylish bathroom features a shower over the bath.

Outside to the front is a small garden enclosed by a white picket fence with established shrubs and flowers and in the warmer months a bistro table and chairs for two. To the side of the cottage is the paved side garden area with parking for 2 cars and space for eating and relaxing outside. Guests can access the old boat house which contains a gas BBQ, and garden tables and chairs.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 double, 1 twin
  • 1 bathroom with shower over the bath
  • Electric hob and oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, and washing machine
  • Open fire in lounge
  • TV
  • Picket-fenced front garden with established plants and shrubs
  • Parking: there is a large, secure paved area to the right-hand side of the property to accommodate 2 cars; access is through tight double gates from the High Street
  • Shop, pub, beach 0.1 miles

We had a really lovely week. The cottage is an easy walk to everything - beach, shops, cinema, theatre and restaurants. Sitting at the table in the garden with a coffee and a book was my favourite activity each day.

A very comfortable cottage in the heart of the high street and a stones throw from the beach. Pubs, restaurants, world class butchers and deli shops just a few minutes walk away. Parking onsite, a real luxury.

We had the most wonderful holiday at Dart Cottage. It is in a fabulous location, with wonderful restaurants within minutes of the front door and the beach 5 minutes stroll away. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay and felt the cottage was the perfect size for a couple with 2 labradors.

Stayed at this property last year and was impressed enough to return this year. Location on the High Street is excellent and the refurbishment of the gas fire has added the final touch.

This is a fantastic location and the ability to park 3 cars in the drive is a huge bonus. It has great access to the beach and everything Aldeburgh has to offer. Like other properties in the centre of Aldeburgh we found it to be very warm at night, with little air circulation. Fans are provided to help with this.

We had a very enjoyable stay and the cottage was very comfortable as indicated in my scores. A couple of issues however being ithat the gas fire in the sitting room could'nt be lit and the kitchen window could "use" a blind for privacy as it was somewhat disconcerting to find people staring in both in the daytime and at night. This was due to the pRead moreroximity of the cottage to the town steps. Hide
