Braegarth is a truly beautiful house in an idyllic setting. The large garden is heavenly. The house was spotlessly clean, with comfortable furnishings and beds. Direct access to so many interesting walks & hikes. Easy to walk into Elterwater village, to the hotel facilities and to the shop & pub in Chapel Stile along the river (avoiding the road) WRead moree would love to stay here again. Hide

Most importantly, the location is in the heart of the Lake District and so perfectly placed for walking from the front door. Therefore the outlook is beautiful to the front (the rear is garden sloping up / trees). It has a massive garden to explore, but it's mostly on a slope; once the gardener arrived, we didn't see him again all day. There is aRead more place to eat 'next door' about 30 seconds walk, which do cocktails and takeaways as well as eat in, and we did not get any noise from that all week whatsoever. We made good use of the complimentary swimming pool / spa facilities membership every day at the hotel less than 2 minutes drive down the road, but although walkable, it's really only safe to drive with children as the road is narrow and there is no pavement. Braegarth is very welcoming and cosy house with marvellous views and a set in an attractive garden. Great fun to be had for adventurous children.
