Self-catering holiday cottages in Aberlour

From ancient castles set in romantic gardens to swathes of golden, deserted beaches and the added attraction of the famous Malt Whisky Trail, the village of Aberlour enjoys all of this and so much more.

Sometimes known by its full name, Charlestown of Aberlour, the large village sits on the east bank of the River Spey and is arguably most famous for its distillery and whisky of the same name. The Aberlour Distillery was built by James Fleming in 1879 and is a popular visitor attraction.

The hub of the village of Aberlour is its square, dominated by the Parish Church, which was rebuilt following almost complete destruction by fire in 1861.

Along with its whisky, Walkers Shortbread is another of Aberlour’s famous exports and it is the largest independent biscuit maker in the country. Perhaps you could buy a few to tuck into in the village’s attractive riverside park, washed down with a cup of tea in the Old Station tearoom.

When you’ve had a good look around the village, enjoy the nearby attractions including Glenfiddich Distillery (5 miles), The Keith and Dufftown Railway (13.5 miles) and the Speyside Cooperage Visitor Centre (2.5 miles). If you’re into golf, you’ll be spoilt for choice, with courses at Dufftown (6.5 miles), Ballindalloch Castle (8 miles) and Rothes (5 miles).

Our holiday cottages in Aberlour and the surrounding area offer a lovely base for your exploration in this part of the country. Choose from gorgeous couples’ retreats, comfortable family homes and larger houses, ideal for group celebrations.
