Our Appletreewick cottages are located in the small village of Appletreewick in beautiful Wharfedale in the Yorkshire Dales. This area is full of character and is extremely popular with walkers and cyclists for its less strenuous but wonderfully scenic routes and trails. The village has a couple of lovely pubs that serve food, one of which has views over the River Wharfe. Appletreewick has great transport links from the nearby market town of Skipton, making it easy to access and explore the rest of Yorkshire.
There are some great things to see and do near our holiday cottages in Appletreewick, from the nearby Stump Cross Caverns, a limestone cave between Wharfedale and Nidderdale, to the majestic ruins of Bolton Abbey or the impressively preserved 900-year-old Skipton Castle – a medieval fortress that has to be seen. You could also take part in a variety of outdoor activities at How Stean Gorge, just 8 miles away, which is ideal for getting outside and experiencing the fresh air. At the southern end of the Yorkshire Dales, you’ll find Malham, an ever-popular village on the Pennine Way. Take in the huge bend of limestone rock that creates a natural amphitheatre at Malham Cove and look out over the village whilst you’re there. Next, make your way towards Gordale Scar and stop off at the small yet impressive Janet’s Foss – a wonderful waterfall nestled in magical woodland.
