Nestled away upon Exmoor, the beautiful village of Berrynarbor sits within easy reach of the South West Coast Path that snakes along the North Devon coast, as well as being in easy reach of some beautiful country retreats; all ensuring a holiday cottage booked here is just perfect. With Exmoor to the south of the village, you’re ideally placed to explore the stunning North Devon coastline and the rolling countryside of one of Devon’s prettiest natural areas.
This little Devon village is one of the county’s best kept secrets; its narrow winding streets uncover gorgeous chocolate box cottages, charming and well kept gardens, and our collection of holiday cottages. Away from the village centre, Berrynarbor is surrounded on all sides by a mixture of rolling farmland, dense woodland, and pretty paths which meander through the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
There are two pubs in the village. Ye Olde Globe is a 17th century Inn in the heart of the village built on a site which dates back to the 13th century. In the winter you can cosy up in front of the roaring log fire and during the warmer months you can sit in the pleasant garden and admire the beautiful views across the valley. On the outskirts of Berrynarbor in nearby Watermouth is the village’s second pub, The Sawmill. This too is an historic 17th-century building, an old water mill which is now a friendly family run pub. The pub’s garden has a little steam running through it and makes a lovely destination to walk to from Berrynarbor village.
This peaceful little village is in one of North Devon’s most beautiful locations and is also well placed to visit the surrounding towns, villages, and attractions. The beautiful and varied North Devon coastline is a wonderful mix of glorious golden sandy beaches, secluded craggy coves full of rock pools primed for exploring, and charming seaside towns and villages where you’re always guaranteed a delicious portion of fresh fish and chips or a yummy ice cream!
The nearby Victorian seaside town of Ilfracombe is certainly worth a visit during your holiday. With its charming pier, waterfront shops, galleries, and aquarium and also the famous Damien Hirst Verity statue, there’s a lot to see and do.
Hele Bay is a 2 mile walk from Berrynarbor, it’s a lovely sandy beach with rock pools that are exposed at low tide. The gently sloping slipway gives access to the beach for wheelchair users and pushchairs, and dogs are allowed on this beach all year round.
