Self-catering holiday cottages in Blyth

Blyth has been a bustling hub of industry for many centuries – a port town which flourished through coal mining, ship building and fishing, as well as benefiting from the railway. Today, the port is still very much in use, and modern visitors can gaze out at the majestic wind turbines which tower in the harbour while cargo boats go about their work.

One of the draws to this characterful Northumberland town is its beautiful golden sand beach, South Beach. Lined with a rainbow of beach huts, it is a lovely spot to tuck into fish and chips, build sandcastles and swim. Surfers can also make the most of the waves, and other water sports can be enjoyed in the dedicated zone, including jet-skiing and sailing. Anglers frequent the beach in the winter, and wildlife enthusiasts will be delighted to spot dolphins, seals and porpoises right off the beach. Families are well catered for, with a large play area and plenty of amenities.

If the weather takes a turn for the worse, head for the leisure centre to make use of the swimming pools, sauna, steam room, gym and soft play area. History lovers will enjoy a visit to Blyth Battery to find out about the area’s military history, while the National Trust’s Seaton Delaval Hall gives an insight into how the other half used to live. Other attractions include the Phoenix Theatre and Ridley Park with its playgrounds and sports facilities. Nearby Northumberlandia is a unique attraction – a huge land sculpture which represents a reclining female form which you can walk around, enjoying the spectacular views.

With plenty to keep you busy in the local area, you will be glad of a comfortable space to rest your head. Our holiday cottages in Blyth have everything you need to enjoy your Northumberland holiday.
