Places to stay & accommodation near Bodiam Castle

Bodiam in East Sussex is best known for hops and its epic fortification, Bodiam Castle. Now looked after by the National Trust, the exterior of this grand edifice comes complete with a drawbridge and moat. Visitors to Bodiam Castle will be reminded of the fairy tales they liked as children. It was built in the 14th century as a family home for the unusually named Sir Edward Dalyngrigge. If the castle is on your to-do list on your next holiday, we have lots of great accommodation near Bodiam Castle to choose from.

The castle is right in the centre of the village and the pub is almost opposite its gates. There’s very basic amenities in Bodiam but it’s still a lively village especially once the Kent & East Sussex Railway Hops Festival begins. This Sussex village was known for its hops gardens in the 20th century. The harvest was used to produce hops for Guinness. Families would come down from the cities in the summer to harvest the bines each year as a way to enjoy the countryside. Bodiam is also set in the heart of the High Weald AOMB, which boasts hundreds of miles of gorgeous countryside.

If you're after a charming country escape in Sussex, look no further than Bodiam. Take a look through our Bodiam accommodation and places to stay near Bodiam Castle above.
