Famous for the hard, crumbly cheese that originated in the town, Caerphilly is also well-known for Caerphilly Castle, which was constructed in the 13th century and was the biggest castle in Wales, and the second-biggest in Britain after Windsor Castle. It stands within 30 acres of towers, gatehouses and water defences, making it an impressive castle to visit on a day out. Other Caerphilly attractions include the Tommy Cooper Statue, while further afield you can visit the Tudor house Llancaiach Fawr Manor, Fforest Fawr or walk to the top of Garth Hill.
