Once the site of a Norman castle, Chipping Norton is the highest town in the region of Oxfordshire. It is most famous for its wool production, which once made the Cotswolds one of the most prosperous areas in England. Bliss Tweed Mill, which was a former wool mill, can still be glimpsed when travelling on the west side of the town. You’ll find a wide selection of tearooms, pubs and restaurants in Chipping Norton, perfect for those leisurely afternoons dining out or if you fancy whipping up something special in one of our Chipping Norton holiday cottages, then there’s a great market in the town centre every Wednesday, offering a fine array of local produce.
For great days out near our cottages in Chipping Norton, you can discover the birthplace of William Churchill at Blenheim Palace, marvel the collection of Japanese Flowering Cherries at Batsford Arboretum, enjoy an indulgent tour and tasting at the Cotswolds Distillery, or discover the atmospheric Rollright Stones just down the road in Great Rollright. And tucked into the folds of the verdant rolling hills of the surrounding Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are the picture-postcard towns and villages of Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold, Woodstock and Kingham. From cosy cottages just for two, to big and beautiful boltholes for large groups, our self-catering accommodation in Chipping Norton offers the perfect, quintessential Cotswolds getaway.
