Self-catering holiday cottages in Chirnside

Chirnside is a small hillside town near the border between Scotland and England. It is home to a 12th century parish church, the 15th-century Dovecot aviaries, and many more historical residences. The village amenities, takeaway and pub should be enough to keep you nourished during your stay, but should you wish to venture further afield, there are plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area.

Chirnside is in an excellent position for short and long countryside walks, including along the Whiteadder River – the perfect spot for a dog walk. If you’re interested in history, there are a multitude of stately country houses nearby, or the city walls of Berwick Upon Tweed (9.5 miles) which are some of the best preserved in England. The Northumberland coastal town is also home to sandy beaches and wonderful riverside walks, not to mention a choice of museums, galleries and family attractions – there’s more than enough to keep you busy on a day out.

The elegant country house of Manderston (4.5 miles), Palladian Paxton House (7 miles) and smugglers’ palace of Gunsgreen House (7.6 miles) are all reachable by car and provide a fascinating insight into the local stories and characters. For more historical fun, head to Eyemouth, where a visit to the museum can be incorporated into a day out exploring the coast which is intersected by the border between Scotland and England.

With so much to see and do, you’ll need a comfortable place to rest your head. Our holiday cottages in Chirnside provide a cosy home-from-home; a sanctuary where you can recharge your batteries for the following days’ adventures, or simply relax and enjoy a day of doing absolutely nothing. Our Chirnside cottages can be found close to the village, with easy access to the area’s attractions and coast. Take a look at our collection of self-catering accommodation in Chirnside today.
