Holiday cottages & self-catering accommodation in Clyro

If you’re planning a Welsh break, check out our holiday cottages in Clyro, a quiet and quaint village in Powys. Beautiful stone houses and cottages line the streets here with some buildings dating back to the 1500s. Clyro is steeped in history, and once had its own castle. Clyro Castle was first mentioned in 1397 but is thought to have been built much earlier. Though the castle is no more, you can see the motte on which it stood in the woodland surrounding the village. The 16th-century St Michael and All Angels Church stands in the centre of the village and Clyro Court, to the south of Clyro, is rumoured to have been frequented by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Explore the area for yourself with one of our Clyro cottages.

Head in any direction from the village and you will find woodland and countryside, a true nature lover’s haven. The Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons create a scenic and atmospheric backdrop to the village, and you will be very close to walking route access points that take hikers into the Brecons. The popular literary town of Hay-on-Wye in Herefordshire sits just 1.5 miles from Clyro, and has plenty to discover in its bookshops and independent stores before you rest in a local pub or café for a bite to eat. It’s easy to reach Painscastle, Talgarth and Llangorse, too. Browse our holiday cottages in Clyro to start planning your trip to South Wales.
