Pronounced Coombs, Combs is a hamlet found nestled in a sheltered valley between Ladder Hill and Combs Edge. The village centres around the popular Beehive Inn while to the north lies Combs Reservoir with its sailing club. Rock climbing was pioneered in the immediate area. Occupying a cul-de-sac at the end of a three-sided valley bounded by Ladder Hill, Combs Moss and Castle Naze, you’ll also find Combs Lake close to Combs, a lovely stretch of deep water. The shape of the village resembles a hen’s footprint with three toes heading off into the steppes of the hillside. At the centre of the village is a lovely pub. Close to the village is Chapel-en-Frith and its golf course. Chapel-en-le-Frith is famous for its ancient associations with Sir Thomas Beckett and Eccles Pike.
