Self-catering holiday accommodation in Commondale, North Yorkshire

In the northern area of the North York Moors, Commondale was once a bustling industrial community, and is now a small, picturesque village, perfect for a peaceful break. Our holiday cottages in Commondale, Yorkshire, are a superb choice for those seeking some outdoor adventures. If you fancy walking or cycling, there are many scenic trails winding across the moors from the village, including a 2-mile bridleway to the larger village of Castleton where you’ll find a selection of shops, pubs and other amenities. This is also the starting point for the renowned Esk Valley Walk.

The beautiful village of Danby lies 4 miles south-east of our Commondale cottages and is the setting of The Moors National Park Visitor Centre. And just 8 miles to the west is the village of Great Ayton, the childhood home of Captain James Cook – learn more about this world-famous explorer in the Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum. Served by the Esk Valley rail line that links Whitby and Middlesbrough, our self-catering accommodation in Commondale is also perfectly placed for discovering more of North Yorkshire’s towns, villages and breathtaking landscapes.
