Self-catering holiday cottages in Embleton

Although Embleton is just a small village, it has much to offer those seeking a coastal cottage holiday in Northumberland. There’s a small choice of pubs and places to eat, but many visitors are lured by its main attraction, the stunning sandy beach, Embleton Bay, around half a mile from the village itself. Backed by sand dunes, the beach is great for swimming, water sports and bird watching, and an 18-hole links course also overlooks the beach. Towering over the end of the beach is Dunstanburgh Castle, a lovely attraction to visit and learn more about its history, or a beautiful backdrop to a walk along the beach. At low tide, the exposed rock pools on the beach are fun to explore and in the dunes behind the beach nestle a collection of quirky wooden bungalows which use to be golfer’s retreats, now owned by the National Trust.

Walking is one of the most popular activities along this stretch of coast. From Embleton you can head north towards Low-Newton-by-the-Sea, Seahouses and Bamburgh, or south past Dunstanburgh Castle towards Craster, Howick and the secluded Rumbling Kern beach.

Besides enjoying the great outdoors, there are many attractions in the area including The Alnwick Gardens (7.5 miles), Howick Hall Gardens (4 miles), Bamburgh Castle (10 miles) and Lindisfarne (23.5 miles).

stay in one of our Embleton holiday cottages leaves you perfectly positioned for enjoying all of the attractions in the area.
