If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat on the South Devon coast, yet still want to be within striking distance of the ever-popular resorts of Torquay and Paignton, our Galmpton cottages are the perfect base for you. Galmpton offers a tranquil getaway surrounded by nature – walk down to Galmpton Creek where you watch the sunset over the water or take the Greenway Ferry across the picturesque River Dart. Galmpton is also home to Agatha Christie’s holiday home, Greenway, where the ferry runs from. Now owned by the National Trust, Greenway gives a glimpse into the author’s life and has some beautiful gardens and woodland to explore too.
Our Galmpton holiday cottages also the perfect base for exploring Brixham, the South Devon fishing port that’s famous for its fish. There are plenty of fish and chip and seafood restaurants offering the finest catch of the day, so it’s a must-visit for foodies on a holiday to South Devon. On the opposite side of the River Dart is Dartmouth, with its rich sailing heritage, while to the north of Galmpton is Paignton, a great destination for a family-friendly, bucket-and-spade holiday. If you want to remain off the beaten track, there are plenty of secret coves and hidden beaches on this stretch of the Devon coast too; Churston Cove is a quiet, dog-friendly beach on the edge of Brixham that boasts breathtaking coastal views. Soak up the vistas further with a walk on the South West Coast Path that follows the entire South Devon coast, just a short distance away from Galmpton.
