It’s one of the closest mainland points to the Isle of Wight, and you can see the Needles on a clear day. The castle itself was one of Henry VIII’s most formidable forts along this part of the English coast. Walk along the strand back to the neighbouring seaside town of Milford-on-Sea where you will find some pleasant pubs, eateries and basic shops. Also close by are the natural visitor attractions of Mudeford Quay, Christchurch Harbour, Stanpit Marsh, Bournemouth Beach, Lymington and the New Forest National Park. It’s a lovely part of the Hampshire coast.
