Kirkconnel is a small village in the Nith Valley in Dumfries and Galloway, located south-west of Scotland where peace and quiet are guaranteed. Offering a village post office and a church, it’s a location perfect for those who are looking to get away and escape it all. Neighbouring towns and villages such as Kelloholm and Sanquhar are a little livelier and offer further amenities and several historic points of interest. Sanquhar boasts a number of attractions, including the Crawick Multiverse, the ruins of Sanquhar Castle, an indoor swimming pool and golf course.
Neighbouring the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park, our Kirkconnel cottages enjoy fantastic stargazing and birdwatching opportunities. Drumlanrig Castle is a short drive away with family events throughout the year, as is the Museum of Lead Mining at Wanlockhead where you can have a go at gold panning. The nearby River Nith provides an attractive option for keen kayakers and fishermen, while walkers and cyclists can make the most of the breathtaking scenery along the Southern Upland Way. Look forward to a peaceful holiday in the Scottish countryside, by browsing our self-catering accommodation in Kirkconnel.
