Self-catering holiday cottages in Masham

Enjoying a beautiful location on the banks of the River Ure, with a host of landscapes and attractions waiting to be explored on the doorstep, Masham is a fantastic destination for a Yorkshire break.

The town has an intriguing history; you can visit the final resting place of the Masham Bones, which is a collection of 58 human remains which date back to pre-Norman times. If nature is more your thing, pay a visit to Marfield Wetlands Nature Reserve which is home to a plethora of birds which can be viewed from one of the hides.

In fact, the town itself is a haven for swifts, who make their nests in the eves and fill the summer evening air with their sharp calls. Watch them in the Market Place in the summer as they spiral through the air. Their presence has been celebrated in the form of 10 sculptures which can be spotted on a walk through the town. There are walking maps available from the Masham Tourist and Community Office, helping you explore the scenic River Ure and detailing the Masham Leaves Trail.

To keep you fed and watered during your visit, there are plenty of eateries which range from traditional local pubs, to tea rooms and cafes. Two local breweries, Theakston Brewery and Black Sheep Brewery, double as visitor attractions, while wine connoisseurs may prefer Corks and Cases where you can browse the impressive range of wines before settling on your evening’s tipple.

Spend time perusing the shops and galleries in the town, as well as exploring further afield. The Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks are both within reach, as well as numerous other attractions in the surrounding area, including Druid’s Temple (4.5 miles), Leighton Reservoir (5.5 miles), Masham Golf Club (1 mile) and Farm Adventure (3.7 miles).

Our Masham holiday cottages are perfectly positioned for exploring the area. Choose from cosy little boltholes to large rural houses, great for a group gathering. We have an array of dog-friendly holiday cottages in Masham too, so you and your four-legged friend can enjoy time away together.
