Pittenweem is a charming working harbour village along the east coast of Scotland where the fish is landed daily, and the pubs and restaurants serve it up fresh for a taste of this beautiful area. Located in the East Neuk of Fife, many of the houses in the village reflect the traditional Fife design, sporting red pantile or grey-slate roofs, giving it a picture-postcard appearance. There are several interesting historic sites near our holiday cottages in Pittenweem, from the 16th-century Kellie Lodge to the ruins of an Augustinian Priory, not to mention the many castles and stately homes that surround the village.
The best way to experience the lively atmosphere and traditional Scottish charm of Pittenweem is in one of its shops, pubs and restaurants. If you’re up early you can catch the daily fish market at 8am at the harbour and if you visit in August, you can enjoy the renowned Pittenweem Art Festival with its exhibitions, workshops, performances and events. If you fancy a scenic stroll, an 8-mile stretch of the Fife Coastal Path links Pittenweem with St Monans, Anstruther and Crail. At Anstruther (1 mile away), you can jump aboard a boat trip along the Firth of Forth and visit the Isle of May, a National Nature Reserve home to puffins and other seabirds. With so much history in the cobbles, on the shoreline and in the Pittenweem Priory, you will have much to discover whilst staying in one of our pretty Pittenweem cottages. Browse our self-catering accommodation in Pittenweem and start planning your memorable break along the sparkling coast of Scotland.
