Enjoy a getaway by the sea in one of our self-catering Ravenglass holiday cottages on Cumbria’s west coast. Ravenglass is a peaceful village on the edge of the Lake District National Park and is the perfect destination for couples, families, and friends looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. As well as the fabulous coastal walks branching away from the village, there are also some stunning routes to explore in the surrounding mountains, including England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike. Ravenglass is the start and end point for the steam trains of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, which is known by the locals as La’al Ratty.
Ravenglass is an attractive village with a handful of welcoming pubs, cafes, and tearooms serving local dishes. The village is a popular base for walkers, who enjoy exploring the nearby Lakeland fells of the Eskdale and Waydale Valley. The nearest lakes to Ravenglass are Wast Water and Ennerdale Water, or further afield you can visit Buttermere and Coniston Water (both within 30 miles). Muncaster Castle is just outside Ravenglass and boasts magnificent formal gardens – a great day out for all the family. Heading north along the coast you’ll soon reach the charming seaside resort of Seascale. Explore our full list of Ravenglass holiday cottages and accommodation above.
