Self-catering holiday cottages in Sangobeg

At the far north of mainland Scotland lies the hamlet of Sangobeg, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the island known as Eilean Hoan. The island is a nature reserve and is reachable by small boat if you are willing to brave the choppy waters just off Sangobeg’s sandy beach. To the west of Sangobeg, you’ll find the larger village of Durness, which includes a range of facilities to make sure your stay in Sangobeg doesn’t overdo the isolation. Durness is home to Smoo’s Cave where the notorious cutpurse McMurdo used to ply his villainous wrath. Another great visitor attraction is Cape Wrath Lighthouse that stands at the British mainland’s most north-westerly point. It’s a dramatic place and can be seen along the north coast and there is a wonderful walk to one of Scotland’s top remote beaches, Sandwood Bay. You can catch a ferry and enjoy a bus ride across the cape to the lighthouse but booking is advised as the service doesn’t run very regularly.

Seek out a secluded cottage hidden amongst rural farmland or a holiday let in a quaint village that’s perfect for your break to the distant north coast of Scotland. Our Sangobeg holiday cottages provide a lovely range of extras including wood burners, scenic views, and pretty gardens where you can sit out and enjoy your morning coffee. Head out on long rambling walks through the countryside and soak up the beauty of this corner of the UK before returning to your cosy cottage in Sangobeg to rest and relax with your family.
