Holiday accommodation in Shingle Street

Shingle Street is located on the coast of Suffolk, on a shingle beach overlooking the North Sea at the mouth of the River Alde. It is home to an early 19th-century Martello Tower, and a collection of houses which used to be home for fishermen and people working as river pilots on the River Ore. When you’re staying in one of our Shingle Street holiday cottages, you can pop up the road to the neighbouring village of Hollesley for a traditional pub meal in the local inn. Orford Ness Nature Reserve is just 12 miles along the coast, where you can watch the wildlife.

While down on the beach at Shingle Street, notice the long line of shells which was created by two childhood friends who met later in life on the beach while they were both undergoing cancer treatment. Enjoy refreshing walks on the beach and days out at nearby Orford Ness (12 miles), Felixstowe (10.4 miles via seasonal passenger ferry) and Ipswich (18 miles), before heading back to the comfort of one of our holiday cottages in Shingle Street for a cosy night in.
