With the Limestone Way passing right through the hillside village of Taddington, this is a popular destination for keen walkers. Pretty cottages are dotted along the village’s main street and the local pub, the Queens Arms offers a friendly welcome to visitors, serving food and drink daily.
As you would expect from a village 300 metres above sea level, the views which can be experienced from here are magnificent. Strike out on the Limestone Way to enjoy the scenery in all its glory, or pick from one of the many walking routes which meander through the dales and over the surrounding hilltops. The Five Wells burial site west of Taddington makes for one such interesting walk.
Just a short drive from Taddington, there’s much to explore in the local area, including the beautiful town of Bakewell (5.5 miles) with its attractive architecture and picturesque riverside. In the opposite direction is Buxton, the elegant spa town with a myriad of attractions and places of interest.
With so much to explore, you’ll be glad of the local pubs, The Queen’s Arms and The Waterloo Inn where you can be sure of a warm welcome and a hearty meal washed down with a pint of local ale. If you’re lucky enough that your visit to Taddington coincides with the annual Well Dressings in August, you’ll be in for a treat, as the local wells are adorned with astonishingly detailed floral displays.
Our Taddington cottages offer a cosy base from which to explore the rest of the Peak District. Choose from pretty little cottages surrounded by countryside, large houses perfect for celebrations or group walking holidays, and beautiful family houses where you can enjoy time together taking in the delights of the Peak District. With plenty of dog-friendly cottages too, there’s no need to leave the family pet at home.
