Between Combe Martin and Lynton on the wild Exmoor coast, our Trentishoe holiday cottages are perfect for a holiday away from it all. Part of our collection of holiday cottages on Exmoor, there's much to discover while staying in Trentishoe.
The village’s remote location previously attracted smugglers who would stash their swag in the church tower; now, it’s popular with walkers who want to explore the sweeping hills and plunging cliffs of Exmoor National Park while walking the nearby South West Coast Path. Once such walk takes you across Trentishoe Down, offering awe-inspiring views across Heddon Valley towards Great Hangman – England’s highest sea cliff.
Scenic walks are abundant in this part of North Devon; wander through the Valley of Rocks into Lynton, spotting wild goats perching precariously on the cliffs, or descent into the Heddon Valley to track the babbling River Heddon as it spills out into the crashing waves of the Bristol Channel. For some more adventure, take to the water by surfing one of the breaks along the 18-mile stretch of protected coastline that forms the North Devon World Surfing Reserve – Lynmouth is the closest well-known surfing beach to Trentishoe. If you fancy a more sedate holiday in Devon, enjoy a traditional bucket-and-spade holiday on the beaches of Combe Martin or Ilfracombe before treating the gang to an ice cream or fish and chip supper.
