Barn conversion property, located in the spacious grounds of the owner’s house, just a short drive from North Devon’s stunning coastline, with its beaches, fishing villages and scenic clifftop walks.

This property sits nestled in a quiet spot in the idyllic Devonshire countryside, surrounded by attractive villages, each with their own character. The stunning Devon coast is just eight miles away, and offers some beautiful beaches, such as the one at Westward Ho!; pretty fishing villages, like Clovelly, a beautifully maintained heritage village; and secluded coves and clifftop walks on the Hartland Peninsula. For those who fancy a change of scene, there is plenty to see away from the seaside, including RHS Rosemoor, the riverside town of Bideford, and The Milky Way Adventure Park.

This single-storey barn conversion is accessed via a ramp which leads up to the front door. The main living space is the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, a relaxing space with a contemporary feel to it. The lounge area has a warming wood burner, a TV, DVD, and an iPod dock, so guests can snuggle up in the evenings and catch up with their favourite programmes. There is a small dining table, ideal for romantic meals, whilst the kitchen area is well-equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine. The bedroom is a comfortable double room, which has a sleek en-suite wet room with shower and WC.

Outside, the property benefits from an enclosed, raised decked patio area, which offers garden furniture from which guests can enjoy the tranquil surroundings. In addition to this, guests have access to the ten acres of grounds surrounding the property, which is shared with the owner, whose home is also located here. Enjoy a game on the giant chess set, wander down to the lake, visit the resident chickens, or spend a few hours fishing in the river (guests should bring their own fishing equipment). There is ample off-road parking available.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Lovely little property in a quiet and peaceful location. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The property is perfect for two with good facilities. We enjoyed the eggs and bread on arrival. Exterior photos misleading, as outside patio area is right on the roadside, and immediately opposite the neighbouring farm gates. We did not fancy eating there due to the "country" smells of manure, and the attendant flies. Although the property is right on the roadside, the lane is actually very quiet, with very little passing traffic, but we wereRead more woken every second night at gone midnight by the arrival of the tanker to empty the milk tanks of the farm. A very comfortable and clean cottage - perfect for rest and relaxation. Hosts were super - very welcoming, recommend the eggs from their chickens!! Need to be aware it is in the heart of the countryside - the roads are very narrow.

Cottage was very clean and comfortable and all on one level (no stairs) which was just what we wanted. Owners had made a great efford to make our stay pleasant and welcoming.

Ford Mill Shippen is great. The owners were so helpful and could not have done more. The Shippen is in a lovely quiet location but close enough to all you'd need. Clean, beautifully finished, just all round great value and choice.

A well equipped cottage which offered a warm welcome. A lovely rural location with great facilities for the dogs. James was the perfect host, welcoming us into the cottage and affording us time to thoroughly explain the workings within the cottage. He also briefed us on the local attractions and eateries.
