Beautifully converted former barn enjoying a quiet rural location on a working farm, within easy reach of beaches on Devon and Cornwall’s northern coasts.

This property is located on the owner’s farm, where it is one of three holiday cottages. Just one mile from the village of Shebbear, where there is a mobile post office and a welcoming village pub, guests can enjoy the peaceful surroundings without feeling cut off. The local area has a wide range of interesting towns, villages, and attractions, such as the attractive harbour town of Bideford, the Cornish seaside resort of Bude, the two mile wide sandy beach at Westward Ho, the private village of Clovelly, and Dartmoor National Park, all of which are within a thirty minute drive of the property.

On entering this semi-detached barn conversion property, guests will be able to make themselves at home in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, which clearly expresses the owner’s stylish sense of taste, with its slate floor, exposed beams, and cosy woodburner. At one end of the room, the lounge area is furnished with comfortable sofas, from which guests can relax and watch the Freeview TV/DVD. At the opposite end of this space, the kitchen/diner has a dining table seating four, an oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. A shared onsite laundry room houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and an ironing board, as well as a range of DVDs, books, games and wellingtons for guests to borrow. On the first floor of the property, there are two bedrooms: a spacious king-size room, and a cosy single, both of which benefit from their own TV/DVD. Guests should be aware that the upstairs rooms have some limited head height, due to the sloping ceilings. The bathroom is another generously sized room, which offers both a bath, separate shower cubicle and WC.

A door frothe first floor landing opens onto a flight of external wooden stairs, which lead down to the enclosed courtyard patio, where there is outdoor furniture and a BBQ, perfect for enjoying the peaceful surroundings in complete privacy. There is an additional patio area with seating to the rear of the property, which makes a lovely spot to enjoy drinks in the evening. In addition to this, guests are able to make use of a paddock, and the 12 acres of woodland that surround the farm. There is ample parking provided.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

It is a beautiful cottage, well equipped and thoughtfully done. It is very "out-of-the-way" as you would expect on a farm so be prepared. We didn't mind this as it was a lovely setting and very peaceful. The only other thing was the bed is extremely firm. Overall we had a lovely relaxing time.

If you want a quiet break with your dog these barns are perfect. Its so peaceful that quite a few days we didnt bother to go anywhere we just chilled in the sun at the front of the barn.The property was so well equipped left use wanting for nothing.There was even milk and fresh eggs in the fridge waiting for us.There are 3 very friendly farm dogs wRead moreho will be eager to say hello and 12 acres of wood land with grassy paths to explore. We've booked for next year already, found a real Gem!! Hide
