This pretty 17th century cottage enjoys an idyllic rural location on a 300-acre farm within the borders of Exmoor National Park, and is just ten miles from the beaches on Devon’s coast.

This property is situated within the boundaries of Exmoor National Park, a beautifully rugged moorland offering many miles of scenic walks and cycle paths, which lead right up to cliffs overlooking the stunning coast on the Devon/Somerset border. Nine miles to the north of the property, visitors will find the pretty beach at Combe Martin Bay, which not only offers a wonderful place to swim, sunbathe, and build sandcastles, but also has kayaks available for hire. A little further round the coast, there are several well-appointed sandy beaches including those at Saunton, Croyde, and Woolacombe. Other places of interest in the area include Exmoor Zoo, Combe Martin Wildlife Park, and the town of Ilfracombe with its restaurants, shops, and aquarium.

This 17th century farm cottage offers comfortable and welcoming accommodation for those who wish to enjoy a relaxing break in North Devon. On entering the cottage, guests will immediately be able to sit back and relax in the spacious lounge, where inviting sofas are arranged so that guests can enjoy the warming wood burner which is situated in the impressive inglenook fireplace. There is a TV/DVD here for guests to enjoy, as well as French doors which allow guests to open up this space to the front garden. The kitchen/diner has a dining table seating six in the centre of the room, which is surrounded by units that offer everything that guests will need and more, including an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, coffee machine, whilst the freezer and washing machine can be found in a separate utility room which also has a handy second sink. One great draw for teenage guests, or indeed competitive guests of any age, is the small games room where guests will find a seven-in-one games table, a TV, and a Playstation 3 games console. The bathroom is also located on the ground floor and offers a shower over bath and WC. Upstairs, there are three attractive bedrooms: a double, a twin, and a single room which benefits from an additional pull-out single bed.

Outside, the property enjoys gardens to both the front and rear of the property, offering a delightful space to sit and relax amongst the farm’s quiet surroundings. There is parking available for two cars.

We have stayed at Barton Cottage many times and always find it very clean and comfortable. The wood burning fire it an added bonus on a cold winters night. Our teenagers enjoy the games room. The area is superb for walking and amazing scenery with some lovely local pubs and tea rooms.

The cottage was lovely and had everything we could have needed. Immaculately clean with fresh towels and bedding. Lots to do in a 20 minute drive away but a car would definitely be needed. Local pub with good food is a five minute drive. westward Ho beach, surfing at Woolacombe and quad bikes in Barnstaple were all great places to visit.
