STUNNING, UNINTERRUPTED VIEWS OVER THE ESTUARY AND TOWARDS THE SEA, SLEEPS 4 + 2 

Backing directly onto the estuary, where the rivers Taw and Torridge meet, this period four bedroom home has been refurbished to a high standard and offers excellent views in an ideal location.

It is a few yards from the rockpools and one of Appledore's best family pubs, and a 5 minute, level walk from Appledore's quayside, with its fishing boats, crabbing lines, galleries and restaurants. There is much to do in the area. Across the estuary is the pretty village of Instow with its sand dunes and sailing club. Or 1 mile in the other direction takes you to the sandy beaches of Westward Ho!, the salt marshes of Northam Burrows, and the site of England's oldest golf course, The Royal North Devon. Other attractions which are short trips away include Clovelly, Lundy Island, The Big Sheep and The Milky Way. Or you could just enjoy the evening views of the estuary from the small enclosed patio area. Seals have been spotted just below the house.

The accommodation is arranged over three floors and retains much charm including steep, cottage-style stairs. There are FOUR bedrooms: on the second floor there are 2 singles both accessed via a step up, 1 with estuary views and additional trundle bed (can be made into a double or twin on request) and 1 with en-suite shower and WC. On the first floor is 1 large double and 1 bunk room with 2'6'' beds (suitable for children under 12). Bathroom: on the first floor has 4'6'' bath with shower over bath, heated towel rail and WC. The ground floor offers an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner: well-equipped with cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine (in understairs cupboard), microwave, and seating area with a step down to bi-folding patio doors leading to a terrace. The lounge area offers a sitting area with TV and DVD. Outside: glass balustrade terrace with uninterrupted views over the estuary and towards the sea. Amenities: parking is in nearby car park or roadside parking within 5 minute walk. Bed linen, Wi-Fi, electric and central heating included. Cot and highchair available. 1 dog welcome (2 small dogs by arrangement). Regret no smoking within the property. Location: rock pools 15 yards, beach 1 mile, pubs and shops short walking distance. Arrival time: 3:30pm

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

We had an amazing stay in Westcroft Cottage. The panoramic view from the terrace and master bedroom was worth every minute of our 8.5hr drive from Newcastle. The cottage was clean and bright and well presented. The master bed was so comfortable we now want a new one at home! The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need, with the addition Read moreof a bottle of wine in the fridge which was much appreciated after a long journey! Have just had a beautiful week in Westcroft Cottage. So peaceful and comfortable. Everything you could need to enjoy a holiday. Little touches like the milk in the fridge, teabags, coffee, sugar all there for you, very kind. The bottle of wine in the fridge was a welcome addition. This is a beautifully located cottage on the waterfront with stunning views across the estuary. The cottage is well appointed and equipped and has been carefully modernised. It is more suitable for the young than old - two steep and narrow staircases!

The location of the cottage wasn't easy once we arrived on Irsha street. The house numbers didn't run in sequence but the friendly landlord of The Beaver pub explained as he handed over the keys. We didn't have any problems unloading our luggage outside the cottage on double yellow lines. I think the locals are used to having to wait a minute or soRead more. If you like to be close to water then you cannot beat this cottage for proximity! At high tide the water laps at the wall below the little patio which is wonderful during the daytime and a lovely sound to go to sleep to at night. The views across the estuary are fantastic. The cottage is well equipped, clean and generally comfortable although the sRead moreofas in the front sitting room are a little small and hard and the stairs are fairly steep. Fantastic location with amazing views out over the estuary and a short walk into Appledore. Living space a little snug, but as we spent so much time outside, this wasn't an issue. Would thoroughly recommend it!
