Situated next to the owners property with it own entrance and driveway, this immaculate annexe was refurbished in 2015 and is a perfect getaway for couples. An ideal base for exploring Devon, Somerset and Dorset.

This picturesque village of Chardstock is situated 4 miles equal distance from the market town of Axminster, famous for its Axminster Carpets and celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage, and the market town of Chard in Somerset. The village is surrounded by farmland and woodland with plenty of footpaths for walks within the village and is within the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Attractions nearby include Forde Abbey, Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre and Axe Valley Bird and Animal Park. Chardstock also has an annual street fair and tractor trundle. Lyme Regis and the Jurassic coast is just a short drive away.

The accommodation offers ONE bedroom: 1 king-size with TV. Bathroom: with shower over bath and WC. Lounge/kitchen/diner: with TV and DVD. Kitchen area with electric oven and hob, microwave, washer/dryer and fridge with ice compartment. Outside: small enclosed decked area with garden furniture and disposable BBQ stand. Amenities: private parking. Bed linen, towels, electric, central heating and Wi-Fi included. 3 dogs welcome (dogs are to be kept downstairs). Regret no smoking. Location: beach 9 miles, pubs and shop within walking distance.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

A very comfy lovely place to stay. The kitchen was well equipped and Sara was really friendly, making us a cuppa when we arrived and leaving fresh biscuits on the table. There are some nice little walks straight from the cottage and others within 30min drive. Nice pub a couple of min walk away too.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pound Retreat. Great village location, quality accommodation and lovely, friendly owners who were very welcoming. First holiday away with the dog, couldn't have made a better choice. Would definitely book again.

Pound Retreat was a brilliant find for a quiet Christmas break for myself and my 3 dogs - it is one of only 2 holiday let properties in the village. Plenty of local dog walks (booklets on local footpaths and longer routes provided) and beaches at Lyme Regis and Charmouth were easily accessible. We hope to return when daylight hours are longer for mRead moreore exploration and to try the village pub which was not serving food during our visit owing to a recent change of ownership. Hide

Great place. Good location at Chardstock enabled us to travel up and down the coast from West Bay in the east to Budleigh Salterton in the west. Great for Coast Path walking. Highly recommend Down House Farm cafe near West Bay AND also a trip to Budleigh Salterton. Definitely need an Ordnance Survey map for circular walks.

Lovely cottage in lovely location with lovely owners next door. The cream tea was very welcome as were the flowers. We used the cottage as a base to explore Dorset and Devon. We took our dog, found it difficult with him, as there was no garden for him, but little lanes we could walk him.Some nice beeches, but to get to them quite a drive. There was a Post Office , where you could get a few groceries, but to get to a Supermarket, you had about a twenty minute drive. Lovely property set in a beautiful little village with a lovely pub, landlord made us very welcome. On arrival we were greeted by the owners who made us a very welcome cup of tea, then on entering the property there was a plate of homemade scones with jam and cream plus a vase of fresh flowers, a lovely touch.

The area was lovely with plenty of footpaths, and the cottage was decorated in a modern style, and had all the equipment we needed. but the outdoor area at the back made you feel like you were sitting in the owners garden in a high sided crate.

Really nice village. Everyone I met was very friendly and welcoming. A mile off the main road so conveniently located to get wherever you want yet very quiet. Good for walking a dog with lots of footpaths. Two pubs and both good places to eat.
