The wild and remote Applecross peninsula is perched on the western coast of Scotland and overlooks the Inner Sound with views across to the remote Hebridean island of Raasay. This is a fantastic area for dogs and their owners to explore, with a choice of dog-friendly cottages on offer across the Applecross peninsula. A range of pet-friendly self-catering accommodation is available throughout Applecross for couples, families and larger groups, with properties including impressive lodges, cosy studios and delightful cottages. Blessed with stunning views and with a population of less than 250 people, Applecross is perfect for visitors looking for a tranquil retreat. With just two roads running across the peninsula, the area is abundant with wildlife, with chances to spot otters, deer, golden eagles and dolphins.
You can accompany your canine companion throughout the region with local attractions including the beautiful woodland of Rassal Ashwood and the breathtaking Bealach na Ba Viewpoint. Along the coast, you can explore the crofting outposts of Culduie, Camusterrach, Lonbain and Kalnakill. Heading a little further inland, pet-friendly attractions include the Torridon Countryside Centre and Attadale Gardens, as well as picturesque villages including Torridon and Lochcarron. The Applecross peninsula is bordered to the south by Loch Carron and to the north by Loch Torridon and Upper Loch Torridon, which offer miles of wonderful walks for you and your four-legged friends to discover. The ruins of Strome Castle can be found on the shores of Loch Carron, while keen walkers can attempt Beinn Bhan, the highest mountain in Applecross.
