Situated on the banks of the beautiful River Wye, Bakewell is well-known for its famous pudding. It is also a place high on the list for dogs to visit - as can clearly be seen by the many different breeds that flock here year-round.
As the biggest town in the Peak District National Park, we have plenty of dog-friendly holiday cottages to choose from in Bakewell, so you can plan the perfect holiday without leaving your dog behind. After all, it can't be the 'perfect' holiday without them, can it?
With so many Bakewell cottages that are dog-friendly available, use our filter to narrow down your search to your dream choices. Choose, for example, between luxury cottages, apartments or something more rustic like a cottage on a working farm.
Filter down to cottages in Bakewell that are dog-friendly that also have their own private hot tub, log burner or enclosed garden for your furry friend to sniff about in.
Whatever makes your holiday perfect, we have an unforgettable base for you to rest in after a day's explorations.
From your self-catering, pet-friendly accommodation in historic Bakewell, you can explore the many landmarks and sights that the national park has to offer.
Dovedale and Hope Valley are popular with visitors due to the breathtaking landscapes and panoramas.
The elegant Chatsworth House and its gardens are also a hit. Although dogs aren't permitted inside the house, the estate is huge so there will be plenty for you and your dog to do together.
For pups that enjoy a shopping trip, Peak Village is incredibly welcoming to dogs and has a selection of outlets to explore and cafe's to rest in.
Adventurous pups can explore Treak Cliff Cavern. Perhaps they will sniff out some Blue John Stone!
These are just some of the experiences you can add to your holiday itinerary.
You can stay in the centre of Bakewell for access to everything this wonderful village has to offer. However, if you'd like to try something a little further away but still within Bakewell itself, we highly recommend renting one of our dog-friendly cottages in Ashford-in-the-Water. Take a stroll with your dog through the historic town or enjoy a countryside walk on the Monsal Trail. Whether you're searching for somewhere with waterside views or a short walk away from a local pub, there's plenty of choice.
Another fabulous place to stay in Bakewell is in one of our Youlgreave cottages. From here, you're in close proximity to all the delicacies Bakewell has to offer. Perfect for trying new tastes and sharing with your dog (where it’s safe to do so).
Slightly outside Bakewell is the picturesque thermal spa town of Buxton. Only 20 minutes away from Bakewell, there are plenty of stunning pet-friendly cottages to choose from in and around this area.
Finally, we have to recommend staying in Matlock - less than 10 miles from Bakewell and incredibly dog-friendly. We have a range of cottages so whether you're looking for something with a little luxury, something for the whole family or a romantic cottage, we have plenty of dog-friendly choices.
Of course, you could also expand your search to cottages throughout the Peak District and the rest of the country.
Wherever you plan to stay in and around Bakewell, you and your beloved pet are sure to have the most amazing time.
