Dartmoor National Park makes a wonderful holiday destination for guests choosing from a range of excellent dog-friendly cottages. Self-catering accommodation is available across this wild area of Devon, with extensive farmhouses ideal for larger groups, cosy annexes and bungalows perfect as romantic retreats for two, and a range of Dartmoor cottages, lodges and barn conversions suitable for families. Offering dramatic scenery, spectacular moorland and plenty of opportunities for outdoor pursuits, Dartmoor National Park offers dogs and their owners plenty to do in this stunning area. There are miles of glorious walks to suit all abilities, and you can also go fishing, canoeing, cycling and nature-watching. There are historic standing stones, cairns and stone circles, as well as plenty of delightful villages and pubs which offer some excellent refreshment.
Stretching across more than 350 square miles of South Devon moorland, Dartmoor National Park is a fascinating environment to explore. The park extends from Ivybridge in the south to Okehampton in the north, and from Lydford in the west to Bovey Tracy in the east, with excellent pubs and delightful towns and villages such as Chagford and Christow scattered along the way. Your canine companions are welcome to join you at attractions including Lydford Gorge, Finch Foundry, the wonderful Becky Falls Ancient Woodland Park, Fingle Gorge, Cantonteign Falls – a magical Victorian folly, or in the gardens surrounding Castle Drogo. There are glorious walks to embark on around Burrator Reservoir, the estate at Parke, and in the woodland valleys of Hembury and Holne Woods.
