On the rugged coastline of Wester Ross, the traditional village of Gairloch offers a variety of tranquil and idyllic dog-friendly holiday cottages for families, couples and larger groups with their canine companions. There’s a wealth of attractive self-catering accommodation in Gairloch and the surrounding area, including impressive manses, delightful fisherman’s cottages and spacious detached family houses. Just to the north of the Applecross peninsula, and one of the most scenic spots on the west coast of Scotland, Gairloch is close to several gorgeous pet-friendly sandy beaches with views out across the loch to Raasay, Skye and the Western Isles. There are miles of rocky coastline for your four-legged pals to explore, and there are chances to glimpse local wildlife, including the occasional whale out to sea.
Gairloch can be reached via Scotland’s famous North Coast 500 route and has plenty of activities for everybody including walking, cycling, fishing, pony trekking, golf and a range of water sports. You can relax on the remote beaches including Big Sand, which offers views out towards the uninhabited Longa Island. Other local attractions include Gairloch Heritage Museum and the stunning sub-tropical gardens at Inverewe (dogs are not permitted in the main garden but can explore the surrounding estate). Heading inland, you will find the stunning Loch Maree (11.5 miles) which extends for some 20 kilometres with 40 or more tiny islands scattered along the surface. Just beyond the loch is Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve which offers miles of spellbinding walks. Explore all this and more by staying in one of our Gairloch dog-friendly holiday cottages.
